Confusingly enough, it's the second novel I have written. 'KeyStroke' was my first. They're being published the wrong way around. Why? I've no idea. What actually happened is that I sent them both to the publisher at the same time. I guess they opened 'Cock it & Pull it' first and then went with that. No matter though, it doesn't make any difference which way around they are published, at least they will both be available.

'Cock it & Pull it' was written for one primary reason. I love movies. Movies are a critical part of my leisure time and my collection of video, DVD and Blue-Ray numbers in the hundreds. It's a very expensive activity considering how much Blue-Ray costs so I make considered purchases.

However, I bought one movie with one of my favourite actors in, put it in the machine and settled down for some good action with cuppa and some snacks looking forward to the film. Well, within the first ten minutes I was absolutely staggered. I'm not going to mention what film it is or the actor, but it was dire beyond belief. The actor is American and speaks English. The film however had been dubbed in numerous places with a voice that sounded nothing like the actor. So you'd end up with half a sentence spoken by the actor himself and then the other half by the dubbed voice. What made it worse was when the dubbing of the actor can be heard but the actor isn't in shot. Awful and very confusing. To make things worse, the plot was so thin and predictable that the whole thing was a waste of time and money. I almost shouted out loud after the film had finished having struggled all the way through to the end. My immortal words were “Damn! I could do so much better than that!”. And that's when I decided. Put your money where your mouth is. So I did. 'KeyStroke' and 'Cock it & Pull it' was the result. I know it's not a movie, I don't have the budget for that, but novels were the next best thing. I think I have achieved my goal - I'll leave it to you to decide whether I have or not.

Through planning and writing these novels, I found something that I loved doing. From there I hope to keep writing and have several other novels in mind for my next projects.

'Cock it & Pull it' is inspired by my love for British movies. My favourite director is Guy Ritchie and rightly or wrongly I wanted to emulate some of his style as his films are gritty and humorous. This is the kind of film and story lines that I find the most interesting and compelling.

Above all though I wanted this story to be written differently from the main stream with my own style. So whilst some of the novel is a little unconventional in style and structure, I have done it this way purposefully.

The story formed in my mind after a £53m robbery from a Securitas depot in Tonbridge Kent on 22nd February 2006. There's nothing new in a cash robbery plot and it's a story that's been done hundreds of times (look at the film Bank Job for example). But it got me thinking. Although I would be interested in the story behind it and how it was planned, I would be more interested if there were ramifications after the fact and somebody was held to account but not by the police. From there the plot for 'Cock it & Pull it' formed in to what it is today. It's a story of good and bad people. The good people being bad and the bad people being really bad. The thought of the reader also having empathy for the robbers was also intriguing for me, so the plot, for me, is a good and thought provoking one.

I do hope that you enjoy the book as much as I have enjoyed writing it. If you do have any comments, please email me through the contacts section or log on to my facebook page and comment there. I would love to hear from you and share your thoughts.

They've just pulled off the biggest cash heist of the decade.
They've just celebrated like there's no tomorrow.
They've just unwittingly stepped on the wrong toes.
They've just been given a no choice ultimatum.

Now Dominic Hawke and his crew have to pull off another robbery to satisfy their debt to one of the most feared drug cartels in London. Unknowingly they have just crossed the boundaries of a supply war between two drug dealing organisations battling for territory, a war that Hawke on any other day would have steered well clear of.

Knowing that they have to satisfy the debt and also knowing that by doing so they will be putting themselves in harms way from the opposing faction who owns the shipment that they are targeting, a precision plan is carefully crafted to achieve their goal covering every possible eventuality.

Events though take an unexpected turn and Hawke finds himself in a precarious situation when his plan seemingly crumbles in front of him.
There's only one thing left to do...

Evolution of the front cover

Deciding on the design for the front cover is one of those things that I actually found more difficult than writing the novel!  The first one is one that I originally designed when I was writing the book and used when giving to family and friends.  The second was an idea that I had in a dream funnily enough, but due to copyright on the currency, I couldn't progress the idea further.  The next two are the ones designed by Olympia Publishers.  Obviously the final one was the end result which I am extremely happy with!
